Meet St. Pete

Keep Saint Petersburg Local presents its new series, #MeetStPete, featuring panels & workshops led by some of our city’s favorite local business owners + socials. The series provides unique opportunities to meet, learn from and really connect with existing & aspiring local business owners; as well as other dreamers, doers, shakers and makers.

Each month will highlight a particular theme/industry. Whereas all events are open to everyone in our community, those who are already part of/want to be part of that month’s highlighted industry are especially encouraged to attend.

St. Pete's maker culture has exploded these past couple of years! Many in our community are now not only making their own artisanal food/beverages/goods, they are also making (or, at least trying to make!) a living from their creations. This workshop will be beneficial for existing and new makers.

You'll hear and learn from one of St. Pete's most successful makers, who will also share ideas of where else you can sell your wares. Plus, you'll get tips from the founder/co-founder of two of our region's most popular markets, and the owner of one of our area's most visited locally-handcrafted goods shop, on what they're looking for when selecting which makers to feature as a vendor or in their store.

You'll come away from the workshop with very valuable knowledge so you get better at "Getting Your Goods Out."

WORKSHOP PANELISTS:

Amy Marshall, Owner | Strands of Sunshine

Jamie O'Berry, Owner | O'Berry's Succulents - O'Berry's Succulents was 1 of 400 makers carefully selected from *around the world* for the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago for the 2nd year in a row (this year's flagship hometown Fair was their largest to date)! O'Berry's was also selected by Squarespace as one of the vendors they featured in the Fair's "Squarespace Row."

Rosey Williams, Founder | St. Pete Indie Market and Co-Founder | Tampa Indie Flea

Schedule:

6:00-6:15  Arrival/Social Time
6:15-7:15  Workshop

St. Pete has some fantastic success stories where food and beverages are concerned, for example ... the restaurateur who, in less than five years, is about to open his third restaurant; the "Renaissance man" behind one of our most respected cocktail bars, who is also about to open a new brewery after co-founding a record label and music fest; the entrepreneur who went from sampling kombucha at a festival to being on tap/in bottles all over our area; and one of our first food truck owners, who founded the Gulf to Bay Food Truck Association.

Come hear and learn from these success stories, especially if you'd like to have your own restaurant/bar/beverage company/food truck!

Bandit Coffee Co. uniquely relies on social media as their main connection with their current and future customers, forgoing traditional advertising methods. This budget-friendly marketing strategy has proven successful, as local, national, and international visitors discover Bandit Coffee Co. via social media, and in-turn, use social media to tell their friends. It's easy to get in on this, to make your business a destination, and the Bandits want to show you how!

Learn how you can take simple steps with your smartphone to step up your social media pages and reach new audiences. The Bandit Coffee Co. crew will cover basic concepts on photography, editing, establishing a brand voice, and ideas to make your products and business shine online.

BACKGROUND ON WORKSHOP PRESENTERS:
Married duo and co-owners, Joshua and Sarah Weaver, met in high school in the Tampa Bay area and are alumni of Flagler College, where they both studied art and design. During their travels, they sought out the best local coffee shops upon arrival in a new town. The local coffee shop, they believe, is the perfect spot to start your day, refuel, meet new and old friends, catch up on work, while also surrounding yourself with the people and spirit of a community. Bringing a multi-roaster specialty coffee shop to the rapidly growing Grand Central District is an idea they developed for over two years. With combined backgrounds in retail, hospitality, specialty coffee, design, and advertising, the Bandit Coffee Co. crew has created a bright, modern, and minimal space where one can enjoy the company of others while experiencing the art and science of specialty coffee.
